Tamarack Loop Boardwalk Trail Reconstruction

Grass River Natural Area has a goal of replacing its existing 30-year old boardwalk system throughout the nature preserve with ADA-compliant, long-lasting materials. Ultimate benefits will include increased safety, better stream flow and fish passage, and improved accessibility for all ages and abilities to engage with nature.

The first phase of the process included replacement of about one third of the boardwalk system. Gosling Czubak worked with Grass River and contractors to design and implement a boardwalk system that followed the existing system's footprint, but will last for years with minimal maintenance. The new boardwalk is also ADA-compliant, with grades never more than 5%, to accommodate those of all ages and abilities.
