South Higgins Lake State Park Campground

Roscommon, MI

South Higgins Lake State Park road reconstruction project included road reconstruction and drainage improvements for the 400 campsite state park. Roads within the campground were crushed, shaped, and repaved along with the installation of underground storm water storage. Gosling Czubak provided the topographic surveying and civil engineering design for the project.  During construction, Gosling Czubak provided construction inspection and construction materials testing for the project.  Construction administration services for the project were also provided.

A major issue for this project was constructing the project while minimizing impact to the users of this popular campground. The project team worked closely with the contractor to install the underground infrastructure after the busy fall camping season and before winter weather arrived. The following spring paving operations were closely coordinated with reservations and limited to vacant areas to complete the work with little disruption to patrons enjoying the early camping season. Work was substantially complete and the campground fully open by Memorial Day weekend.
