Shared Use Trail
Beulah, MI
Pedestrian and vehicular traffic circulation along the Crystal Lake waterfront were of the utmost importance to the citizens of the Village of Beulah. Gosling Czubak worked with local officials to propose the re-routing of vehicular traffic to one-way along the waterfront to free-up additional cross-section width that could be used to develop a pedestrian zone. Together with one-way traffic routing, the design included a 12’ wide two-way designated bike lane alongside a pedestrian walkway. The walkway and bike lane are separated by decorative / permeable paving, permanent seating areas, removable seasonal planters, a creek footbridge and boardwalk and numerous other components. The key pathway connection was completed with Federal and State funds, providing an ADA link to the regional Betsie Valley Trail.
