Schirmer Parkway Lift Station Upgrade

Buchanan, Michigan

Gosling Czubak teamed with FHC to upgrade a pump station to serve the eastern portion of the City of Buchanan, including southeastern Barrier County. Failure of the exisating submersible station was imminent and caused concern that failure may cause overflow of untreated sewage into nearby McCoy Creek. The new pump station increased capacity by approx. 35,000 GPD. Improvements included a self- priming station, eliminating the operators’ need to work in confined space, a more efficient Variable Frequency Drive (VFD), and added storage volume.

The finished project was honored with the 2016 Public Works Project of the Year for Structures by the Southwest Michigan Branch of the American Public Works Association.
